Sylvia Zubyk, MD

Sylvia Gutierrez-Zubyk, MD has served the San Antonio area since she completed her residency in June of 2004. She received her bachelor of science degree in biology from Texas A&M University, and her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She then went on to study radiation oncology at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York, and at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. She completed her radiation oncology residency in June of 2004 at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.

After graduation, Dr. Zubyk remained on faculty at the UTHSC-San Antonio Department of Radiation Oncology overseeing the breast cancer service. Since then she has continued to dedicate herself to the care and treatment of women with breast cancer. She offers her expertise in all areas of breast cancer including external beam radiotherapy and IMRT of the breast.

Dr. Zubyk has received several awards in her young career, including “Top 40 under 40 professionals in San Antonio” in 2006 by the San Antonio Business Journal, and has been named in the “Top 100 Physicians in San Antonio” by San Antonio Magazine.

As a female radiation oncologist and native of South Texas, Dr. Zubyk brings an element of expertise and dedication to both her patients and the START Center.  Dr. Zubyk is board certified by the American Board of Radiology in Radiation Oncology; licensed by the state of Texas; and fluent in Spanish.
