WELCOME TO STOH RESEARCH

At the START Center our mission is to not only provide state of the art treatment, but to actively participate in finding better treatments for our patients. The START Center is currently screening patients for participation in many clinical trials. If you are interested in being screened for a clinical trial, please ask your physician for more information and/or call the contact number below.

"HER2+ Metastatic Breast Cancer

HELP US BRING SOMETHING NEW TO THE FIGHT

Staying strong in the fight against HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer (HER2+ MBC) takes will and determination - and a community. We believe that together, through our collective strength, we can continue the search for a new treatment.

That's why we're conducting CLEOPATRA: A Phase III clinical research study of pertuzumab, an investigational drug for HER2+ MBC, together with trastuzumab (Herceptin®) and chemotherapy.

What is CLEOPATRA?   http://her2study.com/study.html

THE CLEOPATRA STUDY

We hope to improve the treatment of HER2+ MBC by studying a new investigational type of targeted anti-cancer therapy.

In CLEOPATRA, we're studying whether adding the investigational drug pertuzumab to a standard therapy (trastuzumab and chemotherapy) is safe and effective for the treatment of HER2+ MBC.

Pertuzumab is an antibody designed to bind to HER2 receptors in breast cancer cells, and to prevent those receptors from pairing with each other (dimerizing). By blocking the pairing of these HER2 receptors, pertuzumab may potentially keep cancer cells from growing.

WHY CLEOPATRA?

* Pertuzumab and trastuzumab are both designed to target HER2 receptors. But based on prior studies, researchers believe that they bind to different areas of the HER2 receptor, and thus act in different ways. Together, they may improve the treatment of HER2+ MBC.

* If you join the CLEOPATRA Study, you will receive (at no cost): study-related physical exams, lab tests, and either the study medication or placebo (a substance that looks like pertuzumab, but that does not contain active ingredients).

Are you or someone you know eligible for this study?

If you or someone you know:

* Has been recently diagnosed with metastatic or unresectable breast cancer ("Unresectable" means that the cancer cannot be completely removed by surgery.)

* Has cancer that is "HER2-positive" (If you are unsure, all participants' HER status will be tested and confirmed as part of the study.)

* Has not received chemotherapy since the time the breast cancer was first determined to be metastatic or unresectable.

Then you or they may qualify for this research study. As with all research studies, we encourage you to speak with your doctor about possible risks associated with participating in this research study.
